Casa Lixa is located in one of the most beautiful areas of the French Way of the Camino de Santiago. We are in the "Bierzo Alto" region with its extensive nature, where you can partake of numerous leisure activities: walking or by bicycle in the nearby area, visits to wineries, wine tastings and cultural and gastronomic visits.
In the vicinity are Las Medulas, a world heritage cultural landscape, the Temple Castle in Ponferrada, the Roman Bridge of Molinaseca and the National Reserve of Los Ancares...
In addition to your own activities, in our House we offer thematic weekends, cooking local delicious dishes, painting workshops, etc. (Only for groups during the winter season).
A palloza is a traditional dwelling of the Serra dos Ancares of northwest Spain. Pallozas were used until the second half of the 20th century, when improved communications brought modern building concepts to the área.
Las Médulas is a historic gold-mining site near the town of Ponferrada. It was the most important gold mine, in the entire Roman Empire. This Cultural Landscape is listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site
This castle which covers approximately 16,000 square meters. In 1178, Ferdinand II of León donated the city to the Templar order for protecting the pilgrims on the Way of St. James who passed through El Bierzo in their road to Santiago de Compostela.
We are in the middle of the Bierzo "denominación de origen". You can taste wines - both red and white - that are produced in our region. From our accommodation we can organize visits to local wineries. Visits usually end with wine tasting.
